High Street Make Up Brands Vs Urban Decay/MAC

This has been something that has been on my mind for quite a while. What is the difference between high street products and designer brands such as Urban Decay and MAC? Why is there such a big price range between the both? So I decided to test the different make up brands out to see if there is a major difference and if it is worth forking out the extra money.

Firstly, I decided to compare these two brands. The first is the MUA Make Up Palette priced at £4.99 and one Urban Decay Palette priced at £37.99.

MUA have done really well with these two pallettes as there is a wide range of colours to pick from and they do stand out really well. The blue and pinks are my favourites as they are really glittery and perfect for party occasions. They also last a long time which is also a positive as some shadows tend to fade through out the day.

The first thing that I love about the Urban Decay palette is the attractive cover and packaging it comes in. I also really liked that the shadows have names on and it also comes with an Urban Decay shadow brush and comes with some free samples. I thought that these shadows were easier to blend together and sat on the lid better, but I did not find much difference between this and the MUA palete even though they have such a different price range.

If you are on a budget and can't afford Urban Decay products I would say that high street brands are still high quality with a lot more affordable prices that I think a lot of people would much rather pay. But, if you are looking for a professional bold look then more pricey brands are a better advantage.

I have also compared the Rimmel Lash Accelerator and the MAC 3D lash Mascara. MAC is such a popular brand and is used by a lot of professional make up artists but it has a more expensive price tag which is expected from such a well known brand. The Rimmel Mascara has a £8/9 price range while the MAC mascara is £19.

Both mascara's are really good and I would puchase them again. I did find that you have to use more of the Rimmel mascara to achieve long and bold lashes but only a few strokes are required with the MAC which I really like. The MAC also has a bigger brush and seems to work better with your eyelashes.

Rimmel is such a cheap brand yet all of it's products are really good and effective so I would certainly recommend this brand to anybody if you are looking for affordable make-up. MAC is a lot more expensive but it has better quality so if you can afford it then it is definitely worth checking some of their products. Although there was also not a lot of difference between these mascara's, I was impressed with both.

I am a big fan of high street brands and I will continue to mainly use these as they do the trick and will only occasionally use more expensive brands. This is just my opinion on what I have found with these products and I understand that other people may think differently, so i would like to know what other people think and if you can recommend other products that I could try. Please let me know in the comments box.

Soap And Glory Haul

This month I have really been loving soup and glory products. I have never really tried these products before just because I've always thought they were a little bit pricey, but this month I thought it was time to see what all the craze was about.. and wow I am impressed!

I decided to purchase the "soap and glory body lotion" from boots. I think this lotion is perfect for moisturising as it leaves your skin really smooth and has the most glorious smell! I'd actually say they are a lot better than all body shop lotions as they just seem to do more to your skin and the smell lasts longer. I also like the fact that it is in a rather big bottle so that you know it is going to last quite a long time! I am really impressed with this at the minute and I'd say it is my favourite body lotion by far. It's £10 from most boots stores but I really think it is worth the money.

I've recently seen lots of people raving about this so I had to try it out myself. The first time I tried this I was amazed by how much it burned my face and I was actually quite worried, but after reading the back I've realised that it's just a sign it's working, But I think this may put a lot of people of as the burning can get quite annoying. Apart from this, I'm really impressed with this product as it leaves my face feeling really clean and smooth. It does say that it is for spots but I cannot say that it has made my skin any better than it was but still it leaves it feeling extremely smooth and leaves a nice feel to it so you know it improves your skin.

I've always been really picky with choosing make up brands, but I've heard such positive reviews about soap and glory so it was about time I gave it a try. The concealer is an extremely good buy and is perfect for covering dark circles under your eyes, it doesn't feel heavy on your skin light a lot of concealer and can last all day. I don't have anything bad to say about this product and would defiantly buy more as it certainly does the job.

I am really interested in buying different soap and glory products and would love to know which ones to buy, if you are a soap and glory fan please let me know which ones are the best and include your opinions on products I have tried. :)

My "night out" routine..

A night out is always exciting and I love getting glammed up for it so it was a must to would write a blog post about my routine of getting ready and what products and make up techniques I use. :)

Firstly, which is really important.. is music. I will always put some dance anthems on while I get ready as music always puts me in the party mood! I always use spotify for this which is my absolute favourite at the moment and I am FOREVER using it.

Secondly, I have a long shower. The shampoo and conditioner I use is TRESemme which is my favourite all time favourite! I also use body-shop strawberry body polish which leaves you smelling SO nice. After getting out of the shower I use the soap & glory face mask.. which I am OBSESSED with at the minute, it always leaves your face extremely smooth! I then put some "volume and lift" TRESemme volume mousse in my hair which adds a lot of volume, I'd really recommend this to anybody as it certainly makes a different to your hair! I then use the TRESemme heat tamer spray, then it's time for the hair-dryer! I tip all of my hair up side down and dry it this way as it gives your hair more volume (really hard to explain) and then when it is half dry I'll tip it all back in to place again and get a brush and use the hairdryer with the brush at the same time! Once it is all finished and my hair is fully dry I use some soap and glory body lotion which is my ultimate favourite and smells SO good! Once I finish this I will put on some comfy pyjama's while I do my hair.

Deciding what to do with your hair on a night out can be an extremely hard task so it's always good to prepare what hairstyle you are going to have either the morning of the night out or the night before. A hair style I always have for a night out is extreme curls using the Babyliss curling wand! This can take quite a long time with long hair but it is always worth it. I separate my hair into sections and curl each bit at a time and then spray it with lots and lots of hairspray so it stays in place!

The next step is make up.. I always like to have wild colourful make up for a night out and to be extremely adventurous.

My make up routine:

Step 1: I use the Rimmel London foundation all over my face. Using a make up brush I blend all of the foundation into my face making sure there are no parts I have missed.
Step 2: I then use the MUA make up palette (from superdrug) and then put a pale pink on my eyes using an eye shadow brush and then I will add a bright blue to the top part of my eyes, using a blending brush I blend them both together.
Step 3: I then use the Rimmel London Volume Flash Mascara in black! This is such a good mascara and certainly I'd recommend it.
Step 4: I then use an eyeliner and run it across the bottom part of my eye. Remember never to use a liquid eyeliner on the bottom of your eye and always use a pencil! I always repeat this a couple of times and I will do a tick at the end of my eye just to make my eyes look bigger and to add that finishing effect.
Step 5: Blusher!! I use the MUA blusher from superdrug. I will just use a tiny bit as too much can some times look a bit too much, so getting it right is really important!
Step 6: I use a black eyebrow pencil and just run it through my eyebrows and then use a eyebrow brush to shape them up. It is not always necessary to do this part but having the perfect eyebrow really sets your make up off and can make your face look totally different! But using too much eyebrow pencil can sometimes look wrong and it is really important not to go over-board with this. Just keep your eyebrows simple.. A thin look is always best.
Step 7: LIPSTICK!! At the minute I am in love with pinky red shades which stand out quite a bit. :)

Quite a rushed selfie because I am always rushing and never give myself
enough time (silly me!)

It's time to put your outfit on! My favourite shops for outfits are Quiz, River Island.. and also boohoo.com which involves ordering them a few days before so be prepared! Also Primark or Claires accessories are the best for getting little accessories such as a nice necklace to set your outfit of or getting some cheap tights.

The last step which is my favourite step is taking some SELFIES! If you have your friends over this is the perfect time to be taking some pictures for instagram or twitter etc. :)

Getting ready for a night out can take SUUUUCH a long time.. Always give yourself a few hours to get ready because the worst thing is rushing before a night out!

I hope this helped you with your "night out" routines. Please let me know what your routines are or if you have any advice as I'd love to know some good things. :)
